About Us

McSence Care at Home has grown significantly and now offers services in Midlothian, East Lothian, The Borders and the south side of Edinburgh.

Achieving a Grade 5 rating from the Care Inspectorate, demonstrates the standards of care and support we are able to give to clients across our Care at Home, Help at Home and Companionship services.

All of our staff are selected for their caring attitudes and are checked and registered with Disclosure Scotland. References are taken up, and each member of staff completes eight training courses, an induction programme and shadowing with an experienced colleague before meeting their clients. Regular supervisory meetings are held between Home Care Workers and their line managers to ensure our high standards are being met.

McSence Care at Home is part of the McSence Group. This award winning social enterprise was formed in 1988 as a community response to the devastating economic effects of pit and factory closures in the Mayfield and Easthouses area.

Incorporated as a charity, the McSence Group is comprised of several operating companies that provide a range of services spanning Care at Home, Training and Property.

McSence is owned by the community in which it is based and is governed by a board of volunteer directors. All profits made by the group are either invested in new business ventures to create further employment opportunities, or returned to the community, in the form of grants to voluntary bodies or individuals in need.
